The Bizarros!
One of the most important bands to emerge from Akron is The Bizarros. Making records that bridged hard rock to a proto-punk sound, their influence proved important to many bands, and has been regularly noted in such seminal chronicles of American punk rock as Clinton Heylin’s “From the Velvets to the Voidoids” and Jon Savages’ “England’s Dreaming”, and numerous LP and CD compilations.
FROM AKRON’s own Nick Nicholis was and is the singer and lyricist of the band, who along with Jerry Parkins, Don Parkins, and Martyn Flunoy are still rockin’, playing gigs and recording new music. We also pay tribute to original member, the late Terry Walker.
In this episode, we go deep into their history, inspirations, and the bond that’s kept them going for nearly fifty years. We’ll also be playing some of their most noteworthy songs, along with some surprising deep cuts.
This is a special episode - Don’t miss it!
